Development of 12 apartments in south Liverpool.
44 Parkfield Road is a part new build/ part refurbishment residential development in the Lark Lane conservation area of south Liverpool. The project delivers 12 apartments, comprising ten two-bedroom and two one-bedroom units.
A detailed planning permission was submitted to Liverpool City Council in December 2019 following an extensive pre-application consultation process.
The scheme presents confident new architecture in response to the retained historic fabric. Responding to the primary frontage of Aigburth Road created when the adjacent villa was demolished mid-C20, the new build element provides a principal elevation where previously the existing building offered a secondary treatment.
The diversity of new apartments is a product of the complex interplay between retained and new building fabric. Stepped massing creates generous terraces, articulating the new build form as a new layer wrapped around the retained existing villa. Contemporary brickwork detailing complements the proportions of the new elevations, a layering of common material types from existing to proposed.
